the 'touring' touch rugby festival

The Great Festivals are a touring touch rugby event that brings people together to enjoy the sport and have a great time. Whether you're a British Lion or have never played the game before, this is about sharing a festival experience with like-minded, rugby loving people where rivalries on the pitch are put to one side as soon as the referee has blown for full-time!
The Festival also involves a 'sister' netball event with both a competitive and a fun comp...please note, the wearing of gym shirts is mandatory for all male players!!
Our first event this season will be held at Tynedale Rugby Club on Saturday, 1st May 2010. We are delighted to announce that a 'Community Health and Sports Open Day' will form part of the festival. The Open Day will provide a great environment where active and healthy lifestyles will be promoted. The NHS will be present to give BMI and blood pressure readings whilst a variety of local sports clubs, nutritionists and personal trainers will be on hand to give advice and support.
'Family attractions' such as rock wall climbing, face painting, and bouncy castles will all create a great Bank Holiday show. There will also be a children's party and disco held in the marquee on the afternoon of the festival.
During the evening the focus switches from the pitch to the 'Touch the Ball' party! Held in our fantastic marquee, kick-back and enjoy live music, DJ's, Sumo Wrestling 'entertainment' and much more! With a choice of great food including a Hog Roast, an inexpensive bar and 'Ball' tickets at only £10 per head, this is an ideal way to celebrate the conclusion of The Great North Festival.
The Great Festivals are delighted to announce that John Fletcher, RFU National Academy Coach has agreed to become our Patron. Fletch will be playing in 'The Great North' and will be happy to provide advice and coaching for any Novice teams. Commenting on the event, Fletch said 'It promises to be a great day with plenty of things happening, Touch is a great sport and it's popularity is growing which can only be a good thing for rugby.'
